Beed’s Industrial Profile
Beed district sits in the heart of Marathwada, bordered by Ahmednagar to the west and Latur to the east. While the district is classified as industrially developing, it has two high-value valve consumption anchors that most valve suppliers overlook: the MAHAGENCO Parli Thermal Power Station and a belt of 8 sugar factories spread across the district’s river valleys.
The Parli power station alone represents one of the largest single-site valve inventories in Marathwada — a coal-fired thermal power plant requires thousands of valves across boiler, turbine, feedwater, cooling water, and auxiliary systems, with pressure classes ranging from 150 for cooling water up to 2500 for main steam. The sugar factories, while smaller individually, collectively consume significant valve quantities during their annual maintenance shutdowns and crushing season operations.
Our warehouse in Uruli Devachi, Pune is approximately 230 km from Beed city via NH 753 (through Ahmednagar). We offer next-day delivery on stocked items to anywhere in the district, including Parli Vaijnath (approximately 280 km).
Industrial Clusters in Beed District
Parli Vaijnath — Thermal Power Station
Maharashtra State Power Generation Company’s coal-fired power station. One of the largest industrial valve consumers in Marathwada. Requires HP gate, globe, and check valves for boiler steam mains, alloy steel valves for main steam and hot reheat, control valves for feedwater regulation, and butterfly valves for cooling water.
Parli Vaijnath — Sugar & Cement
Vaijnath Sugar Factory and India Cements (Coromandal) cement plant are co-located near the power station. Sugar factory needs IBR valves for boiler and process steam. Cement plant needs valves for kiln fuel, coal handling, and cooling water systems.
Beed MIDC
The district headquarters MIDC. Agro-processing, cotton ginning, small-scale engineering, and food processing. Valve demand is primarily utility-grade WCB gate valves, butterfly valves for water systems, and ball valves for compressed air.
Majalgaon MIDC & Sugar Belt
Majalgaon has a cooperative sugar factory and the Majalgaon dam providing irrigation to the surrounding area. Sugar factory valve requirements follow the standard pattern: IBR gate/globe/check for boiler, steam traps for process heating.
Ashti & Patoda MIDC
Western Beed talukas closer to Ahmednagar. Small-scale manufacturing and agro-processing. These are the most accessible Beed MIDCs from our Pune warehouse. Cotton processing units need valves for steam and compressed air systems.
Georai, Ambajogai & Kaij Sugar Cluster
Eastern Beed sugar factories: Gajanan SSK (Rajuri), Shetkari Baliraja Sugars (Wadwani), and sugar units near Ambajogai. Textile mills at Wadwani and Pimpalner (Georai taluka) add valve demand for steam-based textile processing.
Parli Thermal Power Station: The Anchor
MAHAGENCO’s Parli Thermal Power Station is Beed district’s single largest industrial valve consumer. A coal-fired thermal power plant of this scale uses valves across every system:
Boiler & Main Steam (Class 600–2500)
Main steam isolation requires KSB SICCA pressure seal gate valves (900-3600 GTC) in alloy steel WC6 or WC9 for temperatures reaching 540–566°C. Main steam globe valves for flow regulation and emergency bypass. Swing check valves on boiler feed pump (BFP) discharge lines to prevent backflow during pump trip. All main steam valves must be IBR certified. Pressure classes range from 600 for LP steam to 2500 for HP main steam headers.
Feedwater System (Class 300–1500)
HP and LP feedwater heater isolation using SICCA gate valves in WCB Class 300/600. Feedwater control valves (MIL 41000 cage guided) for precise BFW regulation. HP heater drain valves and emergency drain control (MIL 76000 HP letdown) for handling extreme pressure differentials during heater tube failure. Check valves on extraction steam lines.
Cooling Water & Auxiliary (Class 150)
Large-bore butterfly valves (CDB-S DN 300–600) for condenser cooling water intake and discharge. WCB gate valves Class 150 for pump suction and discharge isolation. Ball valves for instrument air and fuel oil. Steam traps throughout the turbine building for gland steam, steam tracing, and auxiliary heating systems.
Turbine & Bypass Systems
Turbine bypass valves for startup and load rejection (MIL 76000 HP letdown with multi-stage trim). Turbine drain valves for condensate removal during startup. Governor valve and throttle valve maintenance support. Steam strainer valves for protecting turbine internals. Control valves for desuperheating and pressure reducing stations (PRDS).
Sugar Factories: 8 Units Across the District
Beed’s 8 cooperative sugar factories are distributed across the district’s river valleys, with the Sindphana and Manjara rivers providing the irrigation that supports sugarcane cultivation. Each factory operates seasonally (October–April) and typically has a crushing capacity of 1,500–3,500 TCD.
The valve requirements follow the standard sugar factory pattern: IBR-certified gate and globe valves (SICCA GTC/GLC in WCB Class 150/300) for boiler steam distribution, swing check valves (SICCA SCC) on boiler feed pump discharge, inverted bucket steam traps (SIB-S) on every juice heater, evaporator body, and vacuum pan, butterfly valves (CDB-S) for juice and water lines, and V-notch ball control valves (MIL 71000) for juice/syrup flow regulation in processes where fibrous fluids would clog globe-type trim.
Off-season maintenance window
The May–September off-season is when most factories conduct major valve replacement and overhaul. This is the optimal time for a comprehensive valve audit — identifying valves that need replacement before they fail during the critical crushing campaign. We supply replacement valves with 4–8 week lead time for made-to-order items, so orders placed by June ensure delivery well before the October startup.
Why Johar Engineering for Beed District
Dual expertise: power and sugar
Beed’s two anchor industries — thermal power and sugar — require very different valve specifications. Power plants need high-pressure alloy steel valves (WC6/WC9 Class 600–2500) that most general valve dealers cannot source reliably. Sugar factories need IBR-certified standard-class valves (WCB Class 150/300) and steam traps. We handle both through the complete KSB catalogue, from a DN 15 steam trap to a Class 2500 NPS 16 pressure seal gate valve.
Ahmednagar corridor access
Our delivery route to Beed passes through Ahmednagar via NH 753 — the same corridor that serves our Ahmednagar district customers. This means we can consolidate Beed and Ahmednagar deliveries efficiently, and Beed customers benefit from the same next-day delivery service as our Ahmednagar clients. The western Beed talukas (Ashti, Patoda) are actually closer to our warehouse than some Ahmednagar locations.
Stocking policy for Beed
We maintain ready stock of the valve sizes most commonly consumed by Beed’s sugar factories and power plant auxiliary systems: SICCA GTC gate valves NPS 2–8 WCB Class 150/300 (IBR), SICCA SCC swing check valves in matching sizes, SIB-S steam traps DN 15–50, and CDB-S butterfly valves DN 50–300. For power plant main steam valves (alloy steel, high-pressure), lead time is typically 6–12 weeks from KSB factory due to the specialized nature of these products.
