KSB ECOLINE Ball Valves — Overview
KSB’s ECOLINE ball valve range provides reliable on/off isolation for process and general industry applications. Ball valves offer quarter-turn operation (90°), tight bubble-tight shut-off, and low operating torque — making them ideal for water, steam, gas, oil, and general process media where quick, positive isolation is required.
All ECOLINE ball valves feature blowout-proof stem design as standard (the stem is inserted from inside the body, preventing ejection under pressure), antistatic feature to prevent static charge buildup, and are available with fire-safe configuration for hazardous media service.
Product Range — Three ECOLINE Series
ECOLINE BLT-S 150-300
Two-piece construction ball valve with flanged ends. Floating ball design for NPS ½ to 6 inches provides self-sealing action under line pressure. Trunnion mounted design for NPS 8 to 16 inches reduces operating torque on larger sizes. ISO 5211 mounting pad for direct actuator mounting. Full bore and regular bore options.
ECOLINE BLD-S 150-300
Three-piece construction allows in-line maintenance — the body centre section can be removed for seat and ball replacement without removing the valve from the pipeline. Floating ball, blowout-proof stem, antistatic device, Belleville washer-loaded gland packing for consistent stem sealing across temperature and pressure changes.
ECOLINE BLC-S 400-800
Compact three-piece ball valve for higher-pressure small-bore applications. Cast steel (A216 WCB) and forged steel (A105) body options. Socket weld ends per ASME B16.11, threaded ends per NPT/BSP. PTFE seat standard; RPTFE (IBR variant) available. Full bore and regular bore.

Seat Materials & Temperature Ratings
The maximum operating temperature of ECOLINE ball valves is determined by the seat material, not just the body material. Choosing the right seat is critical for reliable service:
| Seat Material | Max Temperature | Key Properties | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| PTFE | 200°C (392°F) | Standard, chemical resistant, low friction | All models (standard) |
| RPTFE | 200°C (392°F) | Reinforced PTFE, higher wear resistance, IBR compliant | BLC-S (IBR), all models |
| PEEK | ~300°C | High temperature, excellent mechanical strength | BLT-S, BLD-S, BLC-S |
| PTFE + Graphite | 260°C | Combined chemical resistance with heat tolerance | All models (variant) |
| Nylon / Acetal Resin | ~120°C | Abrasion resistant for slurry/particle-laden media | BLT-S, BLD-S (variant) |

Key Design Features
- Blowout-proof stem (all models) — bottom-entry stem sits on integral body land; higher line pressure creates tighter seal, preventing stem ejection
- Antistatic feature — spring-loaded ball between stem and ball body ensures electrical continuity, preventing static charge buildup with flammable media
- Floating ball mechanism — ball moves freely downstream under pressure for tight sealing against the downstream seat
- Trunnion mounted design (BLT-S, 8–16") — ball anchored top and bottom, reducing operating torque for large-diameter valves
- Three-piece in-line maintenance (BLD-S) — remove centre body section for seat and ball replacement without pipeline removal
- Belleville washer (disc spring) loaded gland packing (BLD-S) — compensates for pressure and temperature changes, maintaining consistent stem sealing
- Hollow ball design (BLD-S, Class 150, 40mm+ FP) — hole in ball prevents cavity pressure buildup in closed position
- ISO 5211 mounting pad (BLT-S) for direct actuator mounting without brackets
- Fire-safe configuration available on all models for hazardous media service
- IBR seat variant (RPTFE) available for boiler-related applications
