KSB MIL Control Valves — Overview
KSB MIL series control valves are engineered for precise flow regulation in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured by KSB MIL Controls Limited (Thrissur, Kerala), these valves handle high pressure drops, cavitation, noise reduction, and critical process conditions while ensuring reliability and long service life.
The MIL range covers everything from general-purpose control to extreme severe service — with specialized trims for anti-cavitation, low noise (Lo-dB), multi-stage pressure reduction, and microflow dosing applications.
General Purpose Control Valves
MIL 41000 / 71000 — Cage Guided Globe / Angle
The workhorse of the MIL range. Cage-guided trim ensures stability at high differential pressure while providing flow characterization, guiding, and pressure staging in a single component. Multiple trim options including Lo-dB, anti-cavitation, and diffuser types. MIL 71000 is the angle body variant for high-pressure drop applications where a straight-through body would cause excessive erosion.
MIL 35500 — V-Notch Segmented Ball
V-notch segmented ball control valve for fibrous, slurry, viscous, and particulate-laden media. The V-shaped notch provides excellent shearing action that prevents clogging. Single-piece body minimizes leakage paths, spring-loaded seat ensures tight sealing at low differential pressure, blowout-proof stem for safety. High rangeability up to 300:1 with low torque operation.
MIL 10000 — Double Ported
Double ported control valve with top and bottom guided plug design. Balanced flow forces reduce the required actuator size significantly. Invertible body and plug options provide flexibility in installation. Reduced capacity trim available for turndown. Best suited for high flow systems with moderate control accuracy requirements.
Precision & Compact Control Valves
MIL 21000 / 70000 — Post Guided Single Seated
Heavy-duty post (shank) guided single seated control valve for precise control over wide flow ranges. Reduced number of internal parts for easy maintenance. Optional steam jacketing for viscous media, extended bonnet for high temperature, and clamped seat ring. Highly stable operation under varying pressure conditions. Rangeability approximately 50:1.
MIL 27000 — Compact Globe
Compact and lightweight globe control valve for space-constrained installations. Shank-guided design with reduced capacity trim option. Field-reversible actuator allows changing fail-safe direction without removing the valve. Optional manual handwheel override. Tight shut-off performance. Rangeability approximately 30:1. Lower actuator size requirements make this the cost-effective choice for standard control duties.
MIL 29000 — Micropak Microflow
Ultra-precise microflow control valve for low-flow dosing and laboratory applications. Extraordinary rangeability up to 500:1. Cv adjustable at site for fine tuning without removing the valve. Compact design with specialized rolling diaphragm actuator featuring force amplification. Integral bonnet design reduces leak paths. Hardened trim for extended service life.
Severe Service Control Valves
MIL 76000 — High Pressure Letdown
Designed specifically for extreme pressure drop applications. Unbalanced plug design without seal rings, large flow paths for improved capacity, and smooth axial flow to reduce turbulence. Multi-stage pressure reduction protects seat from high expansion zones and minimizes erosive damage. Quick-change clamped trim for easy maintenance. Temperature range -27°C to 566°C. Rangeability approximately 50:1.
MIL 78000 — Multi-Step Anti-Cavitation
Multi-stage axial flow high-resistance trim specifically designed to suppress cavitation in liquid services. Low pressure recovery design prevents vapor bubble formation. Optional spray trim for additional cavitation control. Soft seat configuration available for tight shut-off. Significant noise reduction as a secondary benefit. Temperature range -29°C to 260°C. Rangeability up to 100:1.
MIL 77000 — Multi-Stage Labyrinth Lo-dB
Labyrinth trim control valve creating a tortuous flow path that uses adiabatic friction to reduce noise in gas and steam services. Anti-clog design with smooth axial flow handles particle-laden and erosive fluids effectively. Seat positioned upstream for protection from high-velocity flow. Multi-stage expanding trim design with force-multiplication actuator for stability. Temperature range -27°C to 566°C. Rangeability up to 100:1.
