Material & Applications

Why Carbon Steel WCB: A216 WCB is the standard carbon steel casting grade for valves, widely available and cost-effective. It covers the majority of industrial applications where temperatures don’t exceed 425°C and the fluid is non-corrosive. Most commonly specified for utility services, steam systems, and general process piping.

Typical applications: General industrial service, refineries, power stations, process engineering, pipelines, tank farms. Suitable for water, steam, oil, gas, condensate, and non-aggressive fluids up to 425°C.

Carbon Steel WCB Globe Valve FAQs

What is a KSB WCB globe valve?
A cast carbon steel globe valve with body material ASTM A216 WCB. “WCB” stands for Weldable Carbon steel grade B — the most common casting grade for industrial valves. KSB manufactures these under the SICCA 150-600 GLC series with bolted bonnet design to BS 1873.
What is the maximum temperature for WCB globe valves?
425°C (800°F). While ASME B16.34 allows WCB up to 538°C, prolonged use above 425°C is not recommended due to graphitization risk. For higher temperatures, specify WC6 (up to 593°C) or stainless steel CF8/CF8M (up to 537°C).
What end connections are available?
KSB SICCA 150-600 GLC globe valves are available with flanged ends (RF or RTJ) to ASME B16.5 and butt weld ends to ASME B16.25. Flanged ends are standard. Schedule 40 for Class 150/300, Schedule 80 for Class 600.
Is this valve IBR certified?
Yes. KSB SICCA 150-600 GLC valves meet the requirements of the Indian Boiler Regulations 1950. IBR certification is essential for boiler feed, main steam, and other statutory applications in Indian power plants and sugar factories.
What sizes are available in Class 600?
Class 600 is available in NPS 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 (NPS 5 is not available in Class 600). Weights range from 45 kg (NPS 2, flanged) to 790 kg (NPS 10, flanged).
