Material & Applications

Why Stainless Steel CF8M: Full CF8M (SS 316) body provides corrosion resistance against acids, alkalis, chlorides, and most industrial chemicals. The 316 Ti bellows provides zero-emission stem sealing. Together, this eliminates both the corrosion failure mode (body/trim attack) and the emission failure mode (stem leakage) in a single valve. Matching SS trim materials eliminate galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. This is the most premium valve specification in the ECOLINE bellow seal range, typically 2.5–3x the cost of carbon steel bellow seal valves, but justified whenever toxic corrosive fluids are handled.

Typical applications: Corrosive chemical handling where both corrosion resistance AND zero stem emission are required. Pharmaceutical GMP environments where product purity and operator safety are paramount. Chlorine and chloride service. Acid and caustic service. Organic solvent handling. Any process plant subject to both corrosion challenges and emission regulations simultaneously.

Stainless Steel CF8M Bellow Seal Valve FAQs

Is full SS bellow seal more expensive than CS bellow seal?
Yes, typically 2.5–3x the cost of WCB/A105 bellow seal valves. However, for toxic corrosive service, the alternative would be a conventional SS valve with packing that will leak over time. The bellow seal premium eliminates both corrosion AND emission risks simultaneously. When you factor in the cost of unplanned shutdowns, environmental penalties, and health exposure incidents from leaking packed valves in toxic corrosive service, the SS bellow seal premium is almost always justified.
Both gate and globe available in CF8M?
Yes. BSGT-S (gate) in CF8M for full-bore isolation of corrosive fluids. BSGL-S (globe) in CF8M for throttling and regulation of corrosive fluids. Both use identical 316 Ti bellows and backup packing design.
What about CF8 (SS 304) bellow seal?
CF8 body with 316 Ti bellows is also available for applications where the fluid is corrosive but chloride-free. CF8 is slightly less expensive than CF8M. However, most chemical plants standardize on CF8M for the added chloride resistance, making CF8M the more commonly specified option.
